COMMUNITY

SUPPORTING EACH OTHER

People are everything. And those that take the time out of their day to interact with your stream should be cherished. Viewers, as a whole, are the lifeblood of every streamer, regardless of your goals. Yet, in my experience, viewers are seen as a number, not people.

When we cherish those that deserve it, something extraordinary happens. We understand more about them, what they enjoy, and what they get up to. They suddenly shift from a rogue viewer to someone we know. Parasocial relationships are an unfortunate by-product of streaming, and depending on your goals, you may not want to know your viewers on a personal level.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Most streamers are likely like that. However, for me, streaming was always about engaging with others. This focus led me to be able to cultivate an amazing community.

YOUR STREAMING JOURNEY

Everyone has a different streaming journey. We all start at a different point; no path is the same. Depending on your mentality with streaming, you can experience something completely different than someone else in a similar position. Many will have you believe that streaming is easy, yet, I have never encountered a more mentally taxing hobby.

Most of the time, the view count or the fame isn’t even a worry; it’s more about being heard. That’s where a positive community can help shine the light on your journey and provide a fun and rejuvenating pitstop. And while we may be averse to asking for help, having others back us up and support us through difficult times can make a positive difference.

EMPOWERING OTHER CREATORS

What goes around, comes around. There is no better investment than authentically engaging and supporting someone with no desire for anything in return. The idea of doing so appears to be foreign in the streaming space; after all, everyone is looking to take as much as possible, right?

Fighting for views aside, finding the right people that want to support and engage with you can be challenging. With a community of like-minded individuals, that suddenly becomes less of an issue, and you can use that willpower to make new friends and engage with those that authentically want to help you succeed.

A community is about being there as people first, not streamers. Support can come in many forms, not just another view on your stream analytics. We share snapshots of our lives, discuss things we’re interested in, discuss games and other passions and, where possible, engage with each other on stream.

CREATING A SAFE SPACE ON DISCORD

Discord is a reliable and valuable platform that gives streamers and content creators control to build their own communities. One of the significant downsides of using platforms like Twitch is that it is impossible to build a community once you’ve gone offline. On the other hand, Discord provides a real-time option to have engaging conversations, share important updates and build organic relationships.

Unfortunately, our Discord is not currently open to new members without prior acquaintance. If you want to join and are excited to join a community like ours, please get in touch with me via other social channels to express your interest.
