WHERE I STARTED MY
STREAMING JOURNEY

I started streaming in 2021, back when most of us had more time on our hands than we knew what to do with. Streaming always looked like a fun outlet and an opportunity to meet and engage with new people – a sentiment you may share.

In the early days, I played various multiplayer games with my friends. Despite being a lot of fun, it also felt like I needed to add something; there needed to be more direct audience interaction. After a short break, I returned, now with single-player games and chat interactions at the forefront of my streams. These eventually evolved into community games and, finally, writing streams.

After dipping my toes in so many genres and niches, it was apparent that there are many different ways to approach streaming as a hobby and a career.

WHY I CHOSE
TO STREAM

There are many different reasons to stream; fame, a full-time income, meeting new people etc. My focus was meeting new people. Most of us in this space have a dense history of playing games and have grown up enjoying them with friends and family alike. Sharing that passion with other like-minded people sparked me to start my stream.

Since then, that passion has expanded to my community and content creation in this area. We’ve all gone through the phase of streaming to 0 viewers, but where you go from there and your mindset governs your stream’s trajectory in a year or more. Streamers face many trials and tribulations, and tackling them all on your own is daunting and tiresome, which is why my stream is about open communication and breaking down the barriers of parasocial streaming relationships.

WHY DID I CREATE
THE BLOG?

Blog writing has always been a strong passion of mine. From digital marketer to freelancer, I’ve been able to write on a wide range of topics, from neuroscience and mental health to science and more. I have yet to directly cross over with my other passions – gaming and connecting with others.

With streaming, there is much to learn, whether personal skills such as being able to converse for long periods or practical on-stream skills such as setting up OBS or optimising your overlays.

It took me a while to grasp these skills. This blog is my attempt at giving you a shortcut, minimising the time you need to spend searching, researching and learning. Here you’ll find various resources – guides, howto’s, skill development, practical stream tips and more – to help you become a great streamer in no time.
